Just another WordPress.com site

Happy Summer ’12

Wow … cant believe I haven’t posted in almost 4 months!  Getting Tiffani ready for her trip on a Student Exchange to Brazil – keep up on the latest (hopefully) http://tif2brazil.wordpress.com/

Sailing started last week, got thru the road captain training and skills competition – busy, busy … we’ll catch up soon : )

and spring will be right around the corner – what do you think?  Some parts of me think we will have snow in May.  This has definitely been a bi-polar winter here in Michigan, thats for sure.

Maybe I can get a few weeks of work done on my own site, I’d like to add some videos – production taking place this weekend – how exciting… stay tuned : )

I have been busy mastering the changes Google has put in place with regards to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media. The days of altering code, putting in meta tags and alt tags and it being ‘ optimized are over.  I have spent countless hours going thru my websites to ensure they are properly coded for SEO, linked to social media and providing killer content in posts and blogs.

One thing that makes Facebook special is its 750 million users, but in addition to that, it also has some amazing technology that helps supply information to all of those people. One of the most important pieces of technology that Facebook has is its EdgeRank Algorithm. This wonder of math is what determines which items are displayed to a Facebook user in his or her News Feed. Long ago, Facebook realized that it couldn‟t simply show people every single piece of activity from all their friends on Facebook. It would just be too much.  I have created numerous business fan pages in the past few months and currently on one retail page, we are gaining fans at an amazing rate – only 16 days into February and this month we have had 427,892 Impressions (accounts that our ad has appeared on their page; 166 Connections; 0.047% went from Facebook and used the call to action, by clicking thru to the business’ webpage. Success!

Here are a few SEO tips of what I do:

Analyze each page to see which pages produce the most value

• Traffic

• Leads

• Ranked keywords

• Inbound links

Create & optimize a blog to get more frequent search engine crawls and improve authority

• Develop an audience of email & RSS subscribers

• Attract more inbound links to improve your site authority

• Assess & optimize blog posts for top search rankings & maximum social media distribution

Dashboard & Social Media Tools provide filterable views of the buzz on relevant topics from the leading social media outlets

• Blogosphere

• LinkedIn

• Twitter

• Facebook

• Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Sphinn

• Yahoo Answers & Yahoo Buzz

Keeping up with all the new technology has been a challenge but I want to stand for my statement; Ready to meet Client relations, E-Commerce and Tech Support challenges while contributing to bottom-line profitability.

Now that I’m older  (but not quite in my rocker yet!), I look back on my life and think about things I wish I knew earlier. It would have made my life so much easier if I knew then what I know now. Here’s a list of things I wish I could turn back the hands of time to tell my younger self. Maybe it’s not too late for you…

  1. You’re stronger than you think you are.
  2. Mistakes teach you important lessons. Every time you make one, you’re one step closer to your goal.
  3. There is nothing to hold you back except you.
  4. You can press forward long after you can’t. It’s a matter of wanting it bad enough.
  5. No matter how much progress you make there will always be the people who insist that whatever you’re trying to do is impossible.
  6. You are limited only by your own imagination. Let it fly.
  7. Perception is reality.
  8. Your instincts can be trusted.
  9. There is only one question to ask yourself: “What would you do if you were not afraid?”
  10. It’s often hard to tell just how close you are to success.
  11. The only mistake that can truly hurt you is choosing to do nothing simply because you’re too scared to make a mistake.
  12. Never let success get to your head, and never let failure get to your heart.
  13. You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life.
  14. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
  15. Do what you love, not what you think you’re supposed to do.
  16. Laughter is the best medicine for stress. Laugh at yourself often.
  17. If you want to feel rich, just count all the great things you have that money can’t buy.
  18. Forgiving yourself is far more important than getting others to forgive you.
  19. If you awake every morning with the thought that something wonderful will happen in your life today, you’ll often find that you’re right.
  20. Be nice to yourself.
  21. For the most part, it doesn’t matter what people think. Follow your own truth.
  22. No education is wasted. Drink in as many new experiences as you can.
  23. Making one person smile can change the world.
  24. Don’t forget to enjoy your journey!
  25. You never know how strong you really are until being strong is the only choice you have.
  26. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
  27. You cannot change what you refuse to confront.
  28. Crying doesn’t indicate that you’re weak. It doesn’t always solve your problems either.
  29. No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.
  30. Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.
  31. You can learn great things from your mistakes when you aren’t busy denying them.
  32. Give up worrying about what others think of you.
  33. When you stop chasing the wrong things you give the right things a chance to catch you.
  34. You have to accept that some things will never be yours, and learn to appreciate the things that are only yours.
  35. As Henry Ford put it, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right.”
  36. Don’t be afraid to move out of your comfort zone. Some of your best life experiences and opportunities will transpire only after you dare to lose.
  37. Giving up doesn’t always mean you’re weak, sometimes it means you are strong enough and smart enough to let go.
  38. You’ll rarely be 100% sure it will work. But you can always be 100% sure doing nothing won’t work.
  39. Don’t dwell on the past or worry about the future for too long. Right now is life. Live it.
  40. No matter how cautiously you choose your words, someone will always twist them around and misinterpret what you say. Just say what you need to say.
  41. Not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of good luck.
  42. If you are passionate about something, pursue it, no matter what anyone else thinks. That’s how dreams are achieved.
  43. If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.
  44. What lies before us and behind us are tiny matters when compared to what lies within us.
  45. Don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines.
  46. It’s not about getting a chance, it’s about taking a chance.
  47. If it were easy everyone would do it.
  48. Be vulnerable.
  49. A problem is a chance for you to learn.
  50. Regardless of the situation, life goes on.

This Christmas, while you are eating your dinners and laughing. Remember that in another house there is an empty chair where a hero should be sitting. They gave their life so that you can sit with your family. So light a candle this Christmas for our fallen heroes that did not make it back, and for those still serving elsewhere. I wish for all my family and friends much love peace and happiness! ♥

super wowed ….

Just got an email from one of my super-guru web developers … for one reason or another he was doing a search for “web design” right on that first page of google search, guess who showed up? None other than the Cherihelms Web Design blog page in WordPress. Of course I believed him, but I had to check it out for myself so I went on to google and searched web design. Super-wowed to see my blog page on there with all the mulit-million dollar web design do-it yourself companies.
Guess all-in-all it made my day, just thought I would share it – November is almost over and this in itself is one more little thing in life to be thankful for. Back to work – I am working on updating numerous sites as well as 3 new ones from scratch, web design at it’s best. The really cool thing is I truly enjoy it, I’ve always said, “Find somehthing you love to do, one day you’ll make money at it.” Hopefully that day will come for me too : )

Day of #Thanks!

Have a wonderful #Thanksgiving
hope everyone has a great time with family & friends!!

Top 10 list of things I am thankful for:
1. Family
2. Friends, I have more true amazing friends than I can count on my fingers and toes – for that I am very thankful.
3. Work – I have challenging and exciting job (even if pay not great) that I enjoy with many ‘side web-jobs that are just cool.
4. Health & Fitness – although I could be in better shape – could’nt we all?
5. Community Involvement – I am involved in Motor City Hog, Taylor Rotary and Taylor Conservatory, gives you a good feeling to be able to help out.
6. Great Activities – Riding my Harley and Sailing on Henderson 30′, need I say more?
7. My past experices and education that taught me how to use talents
8. My skills and talents that make me who I am
9. Tiffani is doing good in school – preparing for Youth Exchange and overall genuinely a good kid – with the exception of the 15year old attitude.
10. The fact that I am blessed and can make a difference in people’s lives

Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America Day is the second Saturday of December (the 10th this year) throughout the country!  We will be placing sponsored wreaths at 11am on Saturday, December 10th at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Bedford Rd, Holly, MI.  At noon we will have a brief memorial ceremony honoring all the branches of service.

No need for people to RSVP, they just need to show up.  Friends and family are also welcome.

The biggest help we need right now is wreaths to be sponsored.  This is the only way that we have to get the wreaths that we place at the cemetery.  Wreaths can be sponsored by individuals, veteran and community groups and through corporate sponsorships.

I have attached a wreath sponsorship form.  Wreaths are $15.  At Great Lakes we do honor specific grave requests, however the person sponsoring the wreath must contact me directly via email or mail to make that request.  Sponsorship forms can be mailed to me locally or to Wreaths Across America directly.  Wreaths can also be sponsored at http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org<http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org>.
Cemetery location can be specified.  Please use the sponsoring group code of MICAP001.  Any sponsorships received in Maine after Monday, 28 November will count towards the 2012 wreath totals.

Thank you for your support of our event!
